swasthasya swasthya... the motto of ayurveda
It means that health is balance, that health is more than just going to the doctor when you have a cough and fever and an outbreak of rashes, that health is to be preventive, to maintain the gift you are given.
I choose ayurveda for my blog to make aware to all my readers that how useful and effective is ayurveda in our life and specially during this covid-19 pandemic.
Ayurveda cures all the problems from your body even if it is cancer or loosing weight without doing strict diet or taking any medicines.
Ayurveda says that solution to every problem is around you, just observe the nature, give some time to nature and see how healthy, fit and fine you will be.
Now let's take a quick introduction to what ayurveda really is?
For most of us, Ayurveda is just another way of treating illnesses with medicines that are made up of herbs, well, Ayurveda is much much more than that like we can have healthy body, beautiful skin and much more and this is what we as youth want nowadays.
So today I will talk about some easy and useful tips for our beautiful soul. Ayurveda dosen't means just life, instead it means,
शरीरेन्द्रिय सत्वात्मा संयोगो। – चरक संहिता
The union of sharerra(body), Indriya(Sense Organs), Satva(Mind) and Atma(soul).
and veda means knowledge. Hence, Ayurveda means the knowledge of the union of body, sense organs, mind and soul. So when our grandparents or some elders says 'दीर्घायुषी भव।' it means let you be union with all the above factors for a long time.
Now I shall talk about 10 habits for being healthy
1.Wake up in ब्राह्मि मुहूर्त(Brahmi muhurta)
Always remember a healthy individual should wake up approximately 96 minutes before sunrise to stay healthy. Brahma means knowledge. The time to seek knowledge is called Brahmi Muhurta.
2. Do exercise(व्यायाम) everyday
शरीरायास जनकं कर्म व्यायाम उच्यते- any action that makes one tired is termed व्यायाम.
In ayurveda it is said that doing excercise daily reduce Kapha Dosha and Medha Shato, which is the main cause of diabities mellitus and other related diseases like Atherosclerosis, hypertension, व्यायाम also reduces your stress and make you happy and prepared for the day.
3. Do अभ्यंग(Abhyanga-oil application) everyday
where अभ्यंग means applying oil in अनुलोम गति(in direction of our hair) all over the body. Doing Abhyanga every day reduce premature aging or keeping one young, reduce tiredness, pacifies vaata dosha, bring clarity to the eyes, nourishes the body, facilitates sound sleep and making one's skin healthy.
My suggestion for doing abhyanga by using coconut oil or sesame oil before bath in morning after exercise.
4. Do उव्दर्तन(Uvdartana-Scrubbing using medicated powders everyday)
In ayurveda it is said that doing uvdartana everyday reduces body weight, body mass index, waist circumference and also reduces stress..
suggested powders for doing uvdartana are turmeric, triphala, gram flour. combined them in equal quantity in powder form and applied as bathing powder after abhyanga.
5. Do कवल ग्रह(Kavala Graha- oil pulling or hot water everyday)
If you want to get rid of from plaques, modified gingival index, or microbial colony count in mouth then do Kavala Graha everyday
Suggested oil are Coconut oil and sesame oil.
How to do it:
Take a spoon of warm oil in mouth and move it in mouth till there is uncontrollable or excessive salivation, thin watery discharge from eyes and nose.
6. Stop अध्यशन(Adhyansana-overeating)
one of the biggest problem of today's generation is "overeating". It leads to obesity and overweight which is the cause of other disease like increase in cholesterol which risk your heart and many more in our body.
7. Eat with तन्मना(Tammana-Mindfulness)
Ayurveda says when we have our meal our mind should be relaxed and full of positive thoughts because it affects our digestion. we should be always thankful to god for giving us proper meal.
8. Eat शुण्टि(fresh ginger) with सैन्दव लवण(rock salt) before any meal.
As we known ginger is full of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea compound and anticancer element. Rock salt is also a good anti-oxidant, maintains blood pressure and also used to reduce cough, cold etc..
9. Drink उष्णोदक(Usnodoka-boiled water)
Drinking boiled water faciliates weight loss, increased digestion and reduced constipation.
But same can be become harmful if used during alcoholism, fainting, vomiting, tiredness, confusion, thirst, burning sensation in the body, poisoning, pita dosha caused diseases and blood related conditions. So drink according to your need.
10. Do लंघन(Lamghana- calorie restriction-fasting once a week)
Do fasting once a week improves your digestive system, improves health including several cardiac risk factors, controls overweighting.
You know one of the main reason behind your increase in weight or acnes on your skin is constipation. So first improve your internal body by practicing these 10 habbits for your healthy body and beautiful skin.
